Problem:
Customer just moved in to their new home only to discover the toilet was backed up and not draining properly.
Inspection:
Upon arrival, FWP removed the toilet and used our camera to inspect the sewer line. We found the camera could only travel 25' before hitting blockage forcing us to also inspect the line through the clean out found outside the home. We used a sonar/radar device to analyze the size of the blockage and mark the exact location. We found there was a total collapse of 6' to 8' of the home owners sewer line.
Solution:
We first tried to clear the blockage in order to get the sewer line to drain. However, the blockage was too hard packed and we were required to dig an access hole. We cut a small 3'x4' hole in a discrete location (a closet) in order to access the collapsed pipe. Because the pipe had been collapsed so long, we had to clear about 8' of dirt from the pipe. After cleaning the pipe, we used CIPP to reline the pipe beginning at the toilet through the collapsed section. This minimally invasive method for repair & reinstatement cleared the pipe and allowed the toilet to flow freely.
If FWP were called before the sewer line collapsed our customer could have saved 20-40% or more on the total project.
